Information on the Overall Project and its Coordination
Under the umbrella of Volkswagen Foundation's Funding Initiative "Knowledge for Tomorrow: Cooperative Research Projects in Subsahara and Northern Africa" there are several different branches, for example Livelihood Management, the Humanities, and Neglected Tropical Diseases. Each of the branches has a cooperating German university from where it is administered and coordinated.
The "Humanities" branch of "Knowledge for Tomorrow" is based at Leibniz University Hanover, where Professor Brigitte Reinwald is hosting the project at the History Seminary. Find out more about the coordination team.
Those postdoctoral scholars funded by the Volkswagen Foundation (fellows) are annually meeting the coordination team for a workshop. The rest of the year they are dedicating to conducting fieldwork, teaching and supervising their students, and of course fulfilling zillions of other academic duties at their African home universities.
